Thom says: “I don’t have a clue what to make of this. Joaquin Phoenix has long been a must-see for me. I probably came to know him because of my love for his brother River. And since he was supposedly with River the night he died I started following him. I haven’t see many of his ‘kiddie’ roles but after TO DIE FOR I became a huge fan. So when word came out that he had become a fat, obnoxious slob who had illusions on becoming a ‘rap hip-hop’ artist I was truly dismayed especially because in his last film TWO LOVERS he gave his best-ever performance. What had happened to the A-List star? Then suddenly this film was released directed by his brother-in-law Casey Affleck. I started out watching the film being really put-off by what I was witnessing. But as his descent into Hell became faster and faster I was transfixed. Affleck follows Phoenix around with his cameraman for many months and some truly horrible things come to light. But now I’m hearing that the act was a hoax. But then I heard that the hoax was a hoax and they were trying to save Phoenix’s career. With all this coming to light though the fact remains that he has not been cast in anything since TWO LOVERS (2008). Meanwhile Affleck & his brother’s careers have been skyrocketing. If the disintegration was a hoax Phoenix is stunningly brilliant, but I’m convinced he went cuckoo. 3 1/2 cats”
