Chris says: “Shot entirely during the COVID-19 quarantine, this end-of-the-world indie-com has a good premise (although Don McKellar’s LAST NIGHT got there first more than two decades ago), an impressive ensemble and a rather shoddy execution. Feeling much, much longer than its 82-minute duration, it rambles as co-director/lead actress Zoe Lister-Jones meanders from character to character as if she’s Burt Lancaster in THE SWIMMER, only walking through empty LA streets instead of suburban backyards. There are some genuinely funny and dramatically effective moments, but they’re lost among so many probably unintentionally cringeworthy ones and diminished by an excruciatingly ‘whimsical’ score. I kinda liked Lister-Jones’ previous feature BAND AID, but this one shows she’s no Miranda July. 2 cats
