Thom says: “French director Ozon was well on his way to becoming one of my favorite TOP 10 LIVING DIRECTORS with his 4 really strong showings WATER DROPS ON BURNING ROCKS, UNDER THE SAND, 8 WOMEN, & SWIMMING POOL (my 2nd favorite film from 2003). But with three lesser efforts in a row: 5×2, TIME TO LEAVE, & now HIDEAWAY he’s years away from ever gaining such an honor which truthfully seems nearly impossible to gain at this point. As one of the most annoying characters ever this turkey includes an ex-drug addicted woman whose rich boyfriend did indeed overdose. The dead man has a wealthy brother and he & the now pregnant woman go off to the countryside for unbelievable, insufferable escapades. Way too French, even for my tastes. Ozon needs to rethink his career. 2 cats“
