Thom says: “Everyone knows the Jewish staple celebration song Hava Nagila. This film tracks the history of the song from its origins in Eastern European shtetls to pedways of the world. It’s been featured in hundreds of films and this film delves into the historical and social approach to the song that is so intrinsically connected to the Jewish experience. The talking heads are from a cross-cultural stance & it was sweet to see the filmmakers use Glenn Campbell now after his own announcement of his pre-Alzheimer’s condition. But finally, it might well be your reaction to the film will be what you feel are the merits of the song. Again, my viewing companion, my sister Anne, was downright enchanted with the film. In my long passion for chart making of popular music Ms. Francis did have a #1 song for me. 2 cats
