Michael says: “This documentary about legendary Italian director Federico Fellini is a terrific film for fans of his work. Extensive interviews with Fellini
make up the bulk of the film, with conversations with the likes of Donald Sutherland, Terrence Stamp, Roberto Benigni, and producers, cinematographers, screenwriters and others who worked with him to provide a well-rounded viewpoint. The director uses clips from many of Fellini’s films, particularly his most autobiographical, 8 1/2. I was particularly intrigued by the footage of many of Fellini’s locations shot in color in the present. As Ned pointed out, it was interesting to see these locales in present day, when they were originally used in Fellini’s films as nostalgic scenes for his reminiscenes in films like AMARCORD, I VITELLONI and the afore-mentioned 8 1/2. Viewers unfamiliar with Fellini’s work might not get as much out of the doc.” 3 1/2 cats
