Michael says: “Wim Wenders’ latest film based on a play by Sam Shepard relies a little too much on forced whimsy to be truly successful. When an aging matinee idol discovers that he fathered a child years ago, he returns to a tiny Montana town to find the child’s mother. Shepard and Jessica Lange play the parents. I’m worried about Jessica and all of those aging Hollywood actresses who think they look better after having their features freakishly tightened under the knife. The major impetus for me to see this film were supporting roles by Sarah Polley and Fairuza Balk, both of whom did a great job, but I think Sarah needs to start turning down those weird, sage-like waif roles. If you’re a Wenders or Shepard fan, catch this one on dvd. 2 ½ cats”
