Beth Caldwell says: “For some reason, I was the only one of the movie group who really liked this film. Maybe it’s because I’m a dog lover. But, I really liked the narrative style. I loved the drawings (animation within animation) used throughout the film. These drawings were animated in strategic parts for the purposes of anthropomorphizing herto convey the inner life or unique experiences of Tulip. The film did a great job balancing the feelings of the narrator with those of the dog, and I found the whole thing to be quite charming – 4 cats”
Toni says: “The big issue I have with the film is the middle part where the owner is obsessed with getting his dog pregnant versus his unique love for his dog in the beginning and in the close of the film…it moves from attempting to get her pregnant for almost half of the film to skipping to years later in her death. I really wanted to see other parts of his life like in the 1st third of the film with her.
“I would give it 3 cats for that reason since I really connected with it in some parts but the middle was too much of the same thing and the film lost its emotional impact to me there…”
