Val says: “A young father-to-be has an accident (and encounter) that makes him question what’s real and what’s not.
“I love a good alien abduction film! This one was not. A promising premise that’s let down by bad writing and worse acting by the film’s leading man had me checking my watch after a 1/2 hour. There’s some interesting ideas, but they are never fully realized and the tension that is supposed to build in the audience feels obvious, flat and forced. A disappointing film for which I had high hopes! 1 cat”
Laks says: “DESCENDENT is a film about a security guard who seems eager to return to a higher level in the profession while at a dead end post guarding a school where no one seems to be taking him seriously or even acknowledges his existence. He happens to be married to a wonderful caring partner expecting a child while apparently having to also manager her childish/childlike husband distracted at all times. It is not long before a completely avoidable accident leads to what seems to a frightening decline that may or may not be linked to a cover memory of an alien abduction that leads the protagonist to reckoning with their grief around his father’s death.
