Val says: “A young father-to-be has an accident (and encounter) that makes him question what’s real and what’s not.

“I love a good alien abduction film! This one was not. A promising premise that’s let down by bad writing and worse acting by the film’s leading man had me checking my watch after a 1/2 hour. There’s some interesting ideas, but they are never fully realized and the tension that is supposed to build in the audience feels obvious, flat and forced.  A disappointing film for which I had high hopes! 1 cat

Laks says: “DESCENDENT is a film about a security guard who seems eager to return to a higher level in the profession while at a dead end post guarding a school where no one seems to be taking him seriously or even acknowledges his existence. He happens to be married to a wonderful caring partner expecting a child while apparently having to also manager her childish/childlike husband distracted at all times. It is not long before a completely avoidable accident leads to what seems to a frightening decline that may or may not be linked to a cover memory of an alien abduction that leads the protagonist to reckoning with their grief around his father’s death.

“What would have been yet another trope that could have been developed to something profound is left undigested and presented with caricatures and stunted conclusion. The casting and script are unconvincing and left my thirst for UFO films thoroughly unmet. If I was David Huggins (Love and Saucers), I will not be adding this title to my enormous Sci Fi collection. – 1 Cat
