Hilary says: “Director Terry Zwigoff’s and graphic novelist Daniel Clowes’ latest collaboration is a string of character sketches
strung out with a third-rate CSI-style script. Max Minghella, the second coming of Mark Ruffalo, is all delicate features and doe eyes as Jerome, an aspiring young artist who wishes to live the life of his idol Picasso, both in the studio and the bedroom. John Malkovich plays his jaded painting professor, resulting in some amusement during the classroom critique scenes. For those who recently have been or currently are college students, especially art students, the other students are all-too-familiar stereotypes. 2 cats”
Thom says: “I loved ART SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL. For the first half of the film I laughed myself silly, and while the rest of the film was quite macabre, its media putdown was far more effective than the overrated THANK YOU FOR SMOKING. Oscar winner Jim Broadbent is worth the admission alone. 4 1/2 cats”
