Toni says: “This pairs well as a coming of age film with 37 SECONDS (also excellent) from Japan, yet it is unique in observation of a controversial ritual that Kanto is introduced to be part of, as a sort of a rite of passage in an indigenous tourist town in Japan. This has a great use of indigenous chant and music from Ainu people interwoven in the score and sound design, but it is never over-stated. This would be great for Buried Treasure and ensemble acting for the family/community.”
