Laks says: “We got a timely Chlotrudis review of Alex Garland’s WARFARE which I kept in mind as I went in to see Mstyslav Chernov’s (20 DAYS IN MARIUPOL) 2000 METERS IN ANDRIIVKA. The film opens with a description of the thin strip of forest through a minefield that leads to Andriivka, an Ukrainian village that has been occupied by Russia. The only way for the Ukrainian Army to reclaim the village is to traverse 2000 metres (1.2 Miles) of forest to evade the minefields on either and the many other occupied forces hidden in the forest with all sorts of aerial attacks. The film provides a record of a single mission which have been likened as a microcosm of the war in Ukraine. – 5 Cats
