Toni says: “I can understand why this film has garnered audience awards at Toronto, Melbourne, and Film Festival(s). Lynda and Jools Topp are as the title of the film and their song implies are in fact ‘untouchable girls.’ Lynda and Jools hail from New Zealand and have fought for causes in seriousness and in humor from from political issues in NZ and South Africa in the 1980s in their early days with issues of gender identity and acceptance and even cancer (more recently Jools Topp had a rough battle with breast cancer which is shown in the film) throughout their career. The film in interviews that feel as if the interviewees are audience members like Billy Bragg and established folks in NZ, live performances, and their characters that have been on stage, and events and shows where people believe the ‘characters’ are real people. Their characters range from Kiwi characters, including Camp Mother, the Bowling Ladies and cross-dressing Ken and Ken that say some pretty ‘wild’ things…you have to see it to believe it (so go see this buried treasure before it is gone). 5 cats
