The Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film is pleased to announce it will be presenting actress Robin Weigert with the group’s Career So Far award March 17th during the 25th Anniversary Chlotrudis Awards at the historic Brattle Theatre. The show begins at 5 pm, and tickets are $20 ($15 for Chlotrudis and Brattle members), and can be purchased online at the Brattle’s website.
Robin Weigert garnered national acclaim in the early 2000s with her scene stealing Calamity Jane in HBO’s DEADWOOD, and has worked at a consistent high level ever since. Her starring role as a bored lesbian housewife turned prostitute in 2013’s award winning CONCUSSION was the moment that most Chlotrudis members committed her name to memory as an ‘actor to count on’.
Just two years later, that attention was rewarded with a stunning turn in TAKE ME TO THE RIVER, in which Weigert played a deeply conflicted mother torn between her past and present. More recently, she had a key supporting role in the HBO hit BIG LITTLE LIES. And in a full circle moment, Weigert along with much of the original cast has been in production with the long-awaited DEADWOOD film.
Weigert is joining other previously announced filmmakers who will be in attendance: Canadian legend Don McKellar, (LAST NIGHT, SLINGS AND ARROWS, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE) director Wiebke von Carolsfeld (MARION BRIDGE, THE SAVER) , and composer Lesley Barber (MANCHESTER BY THE SEA, YOU CAN COUNT ON ME, MANSFIELD PARK).
