The Last White Knight

The Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film (CSIF) is pleased to be a sponsor of the 25th annual Boston Jewish Film Festival, one of New England’s longest-lived and most acclaimed film festivals. In addition, Chlotrudis is a community supporter for the screening of the documentary THE LAST WHITE KNIGHT on Sunday November 10th, at 2:30 pm at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline.

Directed by Paul Saltzman, THE LAST WHITE KNIGHT tells his compelling story.  In 1965, Saltzman, a Jewish Torontonian, went to Mississippi as an idealistic SNCC civil rights volunteer, where he was unfairly arrested and jailed, and assaulted by a young Klansman. In 2007, Saltzman returned to Mississippi with a camera, and initiated what turned out to be a five-year, unsentimental dialogue with the man who punched him, Byron de la Beckwith, Jr., son of the infamous racist murderer of NAACP Field Secretary Medgar Evers.

Paul Saltzman will be in attendance, and following the screening there will be a discussion, moderated by Mark Skvirsky, from the educational group Facing History and Ourselves.
