CHLOTRUDIS co-presents ALWAYS SHINE and THERE SHOULD BE RULES at 14th ANNUAL INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL OF BOSTON
The Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film is pleased to join with the INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL OF BOSTON (IFFBoston) once again as a co-prsenter as part of the festival’s 14th year. And we are particularly pleased to have the opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women in cinema, both in front of and behind the camera.
Sophia Takal’s latest film, ALWAYS SHINE stars Mackenzie Davis (HALT and CATCH FIRE) and Caitlin FitzGerald (MASTERS OF SEX), as two actresses, old friends, who go to Big Sur for a weekend getaway in the hopes of reconnecting with the bond they once shared. But their long and sometimes contentious history together results in a different kind of reckoning and reconciliation. Takal's pervious film, GREEN was a Chlotrudis Sunday Eye Opener selection that screened at the Brattle Theatre.
THERE SHOULD BE RULES is the feature debut from Swedish director Linda-Marie Birbeck and tells the coming-of age story of two best girlfriends and their pal Karl, who have been a tight trio since they were kids, and how they each react to the arrival in town of a 40 year old single dad. When his presence begins to disrupt the teenagers’ close bond, plots are hatched to defend their friendships and keep the threesome intact.
ALWAYS SHINE will be shown at 7pm at the Somerville Theater Screen 5, in the heart of Davis Square, on Friday April 29th. THERE SHOULD BE RULES will be on Sunday May 1st, at the Somerville Theater Screen 2 at 7:45pm.
