CineCache Returns with COLLABORATOR

CollaboratorThis week, Chlotrudis welcomes the return of CineCache, a partnership between Chlotrudis and the Brattle Film Foundation where a film is screened pre-theatrical release and is followed by a discussion.  This season's opener is COLLABORATOR.  The directorial debut of Hal Hartley regular Martin Donovan, COLLABORATOR is the riveting, darkly comedic tale of Robert Longfellow (Donovan), a famous playwright who can’t seem to catch a break. His recent Broadway play is a flop and his marriage is on the rocks. SILENT SOULS is this week's CineCache feature!

Silent SoulsIt’s CineCache time at the Brattle!  Chlotrudis and the Brattle Theatre present Aleksei Fedorchenko’s SILENT SOULS.  This haunting and beautiful film from Russia explores grief, love and fate as refracted through the lens of ancient ritual and beliefs. When Miron’s beloved wife Tanya passes away, he asks his best friend Aist to help him say goodbye to her according to the rituals of his ancestors, the Merja, an ancient tribe from Lake Nero, a picturesque region in West-Central Russia. Although the Merja people assimilated into Russians long ago, their myths and traditions live on in their descendants’ modern life.  And so, the two men set out on a roadtrip along with Tanya’s body and two small birds in a cage. | Read more »

2nd Semester OF CINECACHE FILM SERIES Opens with FREE Sneak Preview Screening of Fest Fave ‘MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE’

Martha Marcy May MarleneThe CHLOTRUDIS SOCIETY FOR INDEPENDENT FILM (CSIF), in conjunction with the BRATTLE FILM FOUNDATION, begins the second semester of CineCache at 7:30pm Monday, September 26th at the historic art-house theatre in the heart of Cambridge’s Harvard Square.  Kicking off the series for the year will be a free screening of MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, which drew raves and awards at Sundance film festival this past January.
